High-Temperature Plasma Physics Research Division

The High Temperature Plasma Physics Research Division, which is in charge of the high-precision measurements of various physical quantities, is engaged in the clarification of the plasma physics of the LHD.

For the precise measurement of plasma parameters in the three-dimensional helical plasma, an expensive set of diagnostics has been routinely operated. At present, the number of diagnostics exceeds 60 owing to the continuous efforts of researchers to develop new diagnostic instruments. These are used to investigate a wide variety of plasma characteristics. Measurements by multiple devices improve the reliability of information about the space and time variation of the plasma parameters.
