Professor Masahiro Wakatani was an outstanding scientist, collaborator, administrator, and teacher. This talk will describe some aspects of his large legacy, namely, his research on drift waves and anomalous transport, his leadership in US-Japan fusion theory collaborations, his involvement in international planning, and his training of young scientists.
