Abstract:

Pumping characteristics of water vapor on boron and lanthanum hexaboride films formed with an electron beam evaporator have been investigated in high vacuum of a pressure region between l0^-4 and l0^-3 Pa. Measured initial maximum pumping speeds of water for fresh B and LaB_6 films on substrates with a deposition amount from 2.3 x l0^21 to 6.7 x l0^21 molecules bullet m^-2 are 3.2 ~ 4.9 m^3 bullet s^-1 bullet m^-2, and maximum saturation amounts of adsorbed water on these films are 2.9 x l0^20 ~ 1.3 x l0^21 H_2O molecules bullet m^-2.
