Influence of the Wall Material on the H-mode Performance

Abstract:

Theory on the influence of the wall material on the level of the enhanced confinement in H-mode is discussed. When the high-Z material is employed as the wall, the reflection of the neutral particles causes the higher neutral particle density in the plasma. The increased neutral particles lead to the loss of the ion momentum, decrease the radial electric field and degrade the confinement improvement.
