Abstract:

Microstructure and mechanical property of neutron irradiated TiNi shape memory alloy have been investigated. The doses were on the order of l0^20 to 10^23n/m^2. A11 of the irradiation was performed below 423K. Amorphization was confirmed after the irradiation of 1.2 x I0^23n/m^2. The recovery behavior of the applied strain was drastically changed after the irradiation. The breaking point of the stress-strain curve, sigma _M. increased with increasing dose. These results indicate that amorphous phase dominates the suppression of the martensitic transformation, and causes the change in mechanical property.
