Improved Stability due to Local Pressure Flattening in Stellarators

Abstract:

It is demonstrated that the stability of low n pressure gradient driven modes is improved by introducting local pressure flattening at low order rational surfaces in LHD (Large Helical Device) with the inward magnetic axis shift of 25cm, where n is a toroidal mode number.
