Rokkasho Research Center
At Rokkasho village in Aomori Prefecture, the buildings and facilities of the International Fusion Energy Research Center (IFERC), consisting of the Computer Simulation Center (CSC) and two other centers, and those of the International Fusion Materials Irradiation Facility-Engineering Validation Engineering Design Activities (IFMIF/EVEDA) have been constructed in the framework of ITER-BA activity. The related activities are shifting from preparatory research phase to the research phase. The Rokkasho Research Center of NIFS assists NIFS and universities in cooperating in those activities, and prepares the environment for promoting a variety of collaborative research projects between Rokkasho and universities. As one example of cooperation, the head of the Rokkasho Research Center is the IFERC project leader.
