Cross sections and rate coefficients of ionization and excitation by electron impact as well as those of charge transfer by heavy particle collisions provide useful information for diagnostics and modeling of fusion plasmas. We search and review literatures for collecting relevant atomic data which are to be included into the numerical databases AMDIS (electron scattering) and CHART (heavy-particle scattering), maintained by the Atomic and Molecular Data Research Center at The National Institute for Fusion Science, Japan (NIFS). In this work, we focus on carbon ions CN+ (N=1,…,5). After compilation we evaluate these experimental and theoretical data. We will generate a database for excitation and ionization by electron impact and for charge transfer with atomic hydrogen of carbon ions, together with established cross section scaling relationships. The critically assessed cross sections are represented by analytic fit functions that have correct asymptotic behavior both at low and high collision energies.
