General Information
The National Institute for Fusion Science (NIFS) is a world class research laboratory for magnetic fusion energy research which is funded by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). It operates the world's largest superconducting fusion experiment called the Large Helical Device (LHD). During our open campus tours of the facility are given including LHD and its control room and the virtual reality laboratory. Also many science oriented activities are prepared for children (available on a first come first served sign-up basis). No admission is charged and all activities are free.
