About Special inter-institutional research fellow program
National Institute for Fusion Science (NIFS) has developed research activities as an inter-university research institute, and has accepted students through Special inter-institutional research fellow program as part of graduate education. This program is for graduate students in Japan and abroad. Graduate schools where the graduate students belonged to entrust research guidance for graduate students in specific research task to NIFS for a period of time. This program assumes that unit recognitions, thesis examinations, conferment of degree, etc. are conducted at your graduate school.
Graduate student who wishes to have research guidance in fusion research or extensive interdisciplinary research which related to the fusion science need an endorsement from a dean at the graduate school which the graduate student belongs, then the graduate student can be an inter-institutional research fellow by permission of Director-General of NIFS.
Special inter-institutional research fellow will receive advices by a tutor in units of Department of Research in response to each specific research task, use equipment at NIFS, and carry out the research with receiving facilities for research.
We expect that NIFS will be familiar to graduate students all over Japan as an inter-university research institute, and that the graduate students use the research and education functions through this program.
