Research Organization of Information and Systems (ROIS), The 4th Mid-Term Strategic Projects, “Statistical-Mathematical Modelling on Plasma Data: Complementary to Plasma Physics”.

NIFS Rokkasho Research Center (RRC) has been a research hub for the above-mentioned project. The meeting for sharing research topics among fusion and statistical-mathematical research was held in Dec. 12 and 13 at NIFS RRC/QST Rokkasho Institute and Hachinohe City Public Hall. This project has pursued synergetic development of both research communities by applying/improving statistical-mathematical approach onto the fusion and plasma data. The report on the meeting was published in ISM (Institute of Statistical Mathematics) News (No. 159, Feb. 2023) (in Japanese).

The first year of the project (FY2022) was positioned as a feasibility-study period. The activities in FY2022 were highly evaluated in the ROIS Review Board, and the developmental extension (two more years) was approved. The number of participating researchers has been increasing, and multifaceted activities are highly envisaged.
