Internship Training for Graduate Students

The purpose of this internship is to provide information for graduate students who are interested in the research contents of NIFS to select an occupation, and to conduct research related to fusion science based on the guidance of research and education staff at the research institute.

Acceptance target

Graduate students who are majoring in Fusion Science or another subject related to Fusion Science and are interested in research positions in those fields, and who have the informed consent of the desired supervisor at NIFS.

Acceptance Term

Less than 6 months in principle.

Application flow

  1. Submit application form
    After consulting with your research supervisor, fill out the application form (attached form) and submit all documents at least two months prior to the desired starting date of your internship training. (Contact: daigakuin@nifs.ac.jp)
    If you wish to apply for a long-term internship from abroad that requires a visa, please submit all documents three months in advance.
  2. Submit required documents
    Please submit the following documents to the graduate school coordinator by mail, up to two months before the desired start date of the internship training.
    • Documents indicating the trainee’s career (biographical outline or resume) (no form)
    • Internship training application (form_1)
    • A copy of the document certifying that he/she has Personal Accident Insurance for Students Pursuing Education and Research, etc.
  3. Other preparation
    Please prepare accommodations etc. by yourself. Accommodation at NIFS: the Helicon Club is available.

Submission of report

One month after the internship, please submit a report (your experience) on one A4 sheet of paper.
